Geese Are Playing ‘Saturday Night Live’ This Month

Geese are playing Saturday Night Live. It’s to be expected, given that Cameron Winter and friends — makers of Getting Killed, our pick for the best album of 2025 — have been anointed as an Important New York City Rock Band and are being embraced as such by all the old-guard local institutions. New York Magazine photographed Winter with Debbie Harry for its cover, and, more importantly, Winter was even parodied on SNL last month, perhaps the surest sign that this booking was coming.

Time to be glazed by even more uncs — though not the uncs at Wilco’s Mexican resort music festival Sky Blue Sky, where Winter was set to perform later this month. Alas, he’s dropped out, so all those folks will have to tune in to Geese’s Jan. 24 SNL appearance alongside host Teyana Taylor. Taylor, last seen on SNL performing alongside Kanye West, starred in big Cameron Winter fan Paul Thomas Anderson’s awards-season contender One Battle After Another.

Also announced today is the pairing for Jan. 31: host Alexander Skarsgård with musical guest Cardi B. Skarsgård is in Charli XCX’s Brat movie The Moment; maybe she’ll show up like she did for Role Model? They previously revealed that big music guy Finn Wolfhard would host the Jan. 17 episode with musical guest A$AP Rocky, another one of New York’s favorite sons, whose long-awaited Don’t Be Dumb is allegedly out next week. Wolfhard’s Stranger Things castmate Winona Rider is in the video for Rocky’s new single.
