Inside the ‘Emily in Paris’ Shoe Closet

It only makes sense that the wardrobe department, helmed by costume designer Marylin Fitoussi, has such a plethora of glamorous footwear on hand, as “Emily in Paris” is strongly associated with its bold fashions. There’s even a new coffee-table book, “Emily in Paris: The Style Guide,” released by Assouline, presenting the fashion of the show. While Emily’s style evolves the longer she stays in Paris (though nobody knows quite how long she’s been there), the titular marketing executive maintains a penchant for bright colors, vibrant patterns and statement accessories. And shoes are no exception to this.

Footwear even weaves into some storylines in Season Five, which partially takes place in Italy — in the first episode, Emily’s Italian beau Marcello cautions against her shoe choice as they prepare to meet his mother. She insists it’s fine — she’s wearing green platform sandals from Aquazzura — but later discovers the plan is to go mushroom foraging in the forest, so her luxury sandals unfortunately become muddied. (Why didn’t Marcello just tell her in advance?)

Later in the season, the fashion show for Marcello’s new brand is threatened by the rising waters of the Venice canals — until the problem is embraced with rain boots passed out to attendees (see slide nine of Collins’ post). So, from the glamorous to the practical, Season Five of “Emily in Paris” runs the gamut of footwear. See below for some of the shoes featured in the series and spotted in Collins’ video.

Pictured here with Marcello, Emily is dressed true-to-form with a pair of patterned knee-high boots from Jimmy Choo, specifically the brand’s Blake style. It features a pointed toe, block heel and zigzag black-and-white pattern.

Several sinuous styles from René Caovilla can be seen in the shoe video, and lo and behold, Mindy wears a red Chandelier style dripping with crystals in this scene. Meanwhile, Emily wears colorful patchwork boots from Valentino Garavani.

Emily keeps it classic here with a glossy pointed-toe black pump, letting her puffed sleeve striped top be the star of the ensemble.

Mindy performs in this scene wearing a pair of Jimmy Choo’s Sacaria platform sandals. The set is decked out in pearls, making it an ultra-glamorous choice.

For an outing on horseback, Emily and Mindy don knee-high riding boots, embracing the fashion of the sport.

While in the recording booth, Mindy wears a pair of pointed-toe Tabitha Simmons pumps with horizontal straps creating a caged look.

Plenty of ballet styles can be seen in the shoe video, an apt look for Paris. Here, Emily wears a simple yellow pair with a dainty bow on the vamp.
