Fans of The Mummy rejoiced when Universal announced last year that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz were returning to the franchise for a new film. While the studio still has a long time to go before the movie wraps up, the studio has now announced a release date for the film. Don’t hold your breath, though, as it won’t hit the big screen for over two years.
The film is set to hit theaters on May 19, 2028, almost 30 years after the original film graced screens in 1999. It will be directed by the filmmaking collective Radio Silence, who have already dipped their toes in the Universal Horror waters with 2024’s Abigail, a loose remake of 1936’s Dracula’s Daughter.
