“Imagine what God can do – together.” Lionsgate revealed the second and final trailer for the movie I Can Only Imagine 2, a sequel to the faith-based music movie hit I Can Only Imagine from 2018. Inspired by the life story of musician Bart Millard and his band MercyMe, this sequel takes the next steps forward following up on the sudden success seen in the first movie. This religion film opens in theaters nationwide later this month. From co-directors Andrew Erwin and Brent McCorkle, starring John Michael Finley back again in the lead role. Bart Millard, lead singer of MercyMe, faces a personal crisis at the peak of his success. As his world unravels, he struggles with his beliefs & inner demons while seeking a path through adversity. Based on the heartfelt true story behind the hit single “Even If” (listen to it here), I Can Only Imagine 2 is the inspiring next chapter of faith, family, and finding God in the fire. This stars John Michael Finley, Milo Ventimiglia, Sophie Skelton, Arielle Kebbel, Sammy Dell, with Trace Adkins and Dennis Quaid. Fun to see them using the Red Rocks venue in Denver as the iconic concert location in this sequel.

After the breakout success of the song “I Can Only Imagine,” MercyMe’s Bart Millard (featuring John Michael Finley returning again) is living the dream—sold-out arenas, a devoted fan base, and a thriving career. But behind the spotlight, Bart’s past threatens the family he’s built, especially the fragile bond with his son, Sam (Sammy Dell). When hopeful newcomer Tim Timmons (Milo Ventimiglia) joins the band for their biggest tour yet, he unknowingly brings a renewed gratitude to Bart’s life through their unlikely friendship. Bart soon discovers that Tim carries hardships—and secrets—of his own, forcing him to face his past and repair his relationships with Sam and his wife, Shannon (Sophie Skelton), before fame costs him what matters most. I Can Only Imagine 2 is co-directed by faith-based filmmakers Andrew Erwin (of October Baby, Woodlawn, I Can Only Imagine, I Still Believe, American Underdog, The Jesus Music) & Brent McCorkle (of Unconditional, Jesus Revolution). The screenplay is by Brent McCorkle. Produced by Kevin Downes, Andrew Erwin, Cindy Bond, Bart Millard, Daryl Lefever, Joshua Walsh. Lionsgate will debut I Can Only Imagine 2 in theaters nationwide starting on February 20th, 2026 this winter. Anyone down?
