HBO has released its latest trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and fans are not happy. The newest trailer showcases what’s to come over the next few weeks, but Game of Thrones fans claim it gave the whole story away. The trailer is still up, so if you want to watch the new series blind, it’s best to look away.
The trailer in question is the “Weeks Ahead Trailer,” showcasing what’s to come in the later episodes. Unlike House of the Dragon, which teased characters, prophecies, and the conflict that’s soon to come, fans claimed that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms preview gave away the whole plot. In the comments, fans were shocked by how much of the story the trailer revealed. Meanwhile, on social media, fans either expressed shock or regret about seeing it, especially those who’ve read the novellas. While it did spoil aspects of the story, the trailers didn’t reveal any major plot twists and outcomes.
One possible reason for this preview is the episode count. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will have only six episodes in its first season, while many seasons of Game of Thrones had 10 episodes, and House of the Dragon ranged from 8 to 10. Not to mention, the novellas the show is based on are short, which explains the smaller episode count.
What’s ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ About?
Based on George R.R. Martin‘s The Hedge Knight, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms follows Dunk (Peter Claffey), a hedge knight who travels to Ashford for an upcoming tournament. On his journey, he meets Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), a young boy who manages to persuade Dunk to be his squire. In episode 1, Dunk is tasked with finding someone who can vouch for him before he can participate in the games. Additionally, due to Dunk being a hedge knight, people immediately assume that he has no chance of winning the tournament.
As of writing, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has received praise from fans and critics alike, generating 88% critics’ score and a 78% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which puts the show between Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon in terms of critic ratings. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Season 2 is in the works, and it will be based on the second tale in the Dunk and Egg stories, The Sworn Sword.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is available to stream on HBO Max, with new episodes releasing every Sunday on HBO.
