Clint Eastwood’s Final Movie Continues To Prove Warner Bros. Wrong 2 Years Later

One could argue that Clint Eastwood has given more to the world of movies than anyone else in the history of the profession. His career began well over 50 years ago, directing and starring in some of the most famous Westerns of all time, but as things began to come to a head around 10 years ago, he began to spend more time exclusively behind the camera. He still found plenty of box office success over the years, though, particularly with movies like American Sniper, the war biopic starring Bradley Cooper that earned over $547 million at the global box office. Eastwood won four Oscars over the course of his long and distinguished career, but it could have easily been double that, and it likely still wouldn’t have been enough.

After years of making movies, it seems Clint Eastwood’s career has finally come to a close. His last film came in 2024 with Juror #2, the legal thriller following a family man serving in a murder trial who finds himself in a moral dilemma that could sway the outcome of the case and his life. Starring Nicholas Hoult (Superman) and J.K. Simmons (Invincible), Juror #2 began streaming on HBO Max after a bungled theatrical run, and it’s still in the top 10 in several countries. The film earned strong marks of 93% from critics and 90% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but Warner Bros. denied the film a wide theatrical release. It just managed to gross $27 million globally, thanks to its hefty international earnings, but it could have made small work of its $30 million budget had it been given the chance to thrive in theaters in America.
