One of the Highest Grossing Horror Sequels of 2026 Is Finally Taking a Stab at Streaming

When video game adaptations meet the horror genre, the resulting movie is always thrilling. Resident Evil, Iron Lung, and Silent Hill are great examples that build on existing IP while adding cinematic value to familiar narratives. Among such notable features is Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s, the beloved game, which has had a good journey on the big screen with director Emma Tammi at the helm.

The first movie came out in 2023, starring Josh Hutcherson as Mike, and blew fans’ minds with its eerie atmosphere, larger-than-life animatronics, and some credible performances. Made on a $20 million budget, the film earned $297.2 million at the global box office. Nonetheless, it divided critics and audiences, who respectively awarded it 33% and 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that didn’t stop the announcement of a sequel thatrolled out in 2025.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 repeated the same fate, becoming a box office hit, earning $239.6 million, and receiving 16% and 84% Rotten Tomatoes scores from critics and audiences, respectively. Fans seem to agree that it’s a significantly better movie than the first, with some solid jump scares, brilliant practical effects, and a story that’s close to its source material. Within weeks after its box office success, it came out on VOD, where it again topped the charts. And finally, it’s coming to streaming, as per Peacock.

‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ Makes Streaming Debut

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will debut on Peacock on April 3, as per a new X (formerly Twitter) announcement by the streamer. The sequel is set approximately a year after the original film. We follow Mike (Hutcherson) and Abby (Piper Rubio) as they deal with the aftermath of the original Freddy Fazbear’s hauntings that have become a local legend. The sequel builds on the first one with loud jump scares and even better practical effects. A new lethal antagonist, Marionette, has been added to torment Mike and Abby.

Further, Matthew Lillard returns along with another horror icon and his Scream co-star, Skeet Ulrich, though some fans would prefer more screentime for the icons. Also starring are Mckenna Grace, Elizabeth Lail, and Wayne Knight. Check the movie out for its performances and some great practical effects. Further, the physical animatronic puppet adds more charm and authenticity to the feature.

Check out Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 on Peacock starting April 3. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
