Prepare to be reunited with your favorite homicidal animatronics: “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” will be available to stream on Peacock starting on April 3.
A sequel to the wildly successful “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” the latest installment in video game creator and screenwriter Scott Cawthon’s franchise picks up one year after former security guard Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), his sister Abby (Piper Rubio) and police officer Vanessa Shelly (Elizabeth Lail) survived their encounter with Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria’s killer animatronics. But while Mike and Vanessa try to adjust to a post-Freddy Fazbear’s life, Abby attempts to reconnect with her friends Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy, setting a new series of terrifying events in motion.
Hutcherson, Rubio and Lail all reprised their roles in the PG-13 film, as did Matthew Lillard as William Afton and Theodus Crane as Jeremiah. “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” also welcomed franchise newcomers Skeet Ulrich as Henry Emily, Wayne Knight as M. Berg, McKenna Grace as Lisa, Teo Briones as Alex and Freddy Carter as Michael to the cast.
Following its Dec. 5 release, the Emma Tammi-directed sequel opened to a strong $64 million domestically, blowing past initial expectations of $35 million to $40 million in its opening weekend. In comparison, the first “Five Night’s at Freddy’s” film opened to $80 million in 2023 when released both in theaters and on Peacock simultaneously in 2023. The first horror film went on to earn over $290 million worldwide against a $20 million budget, becoming Blumhouse Productions’ highest-grossing film of all time and the highest-grossing horror film of 2023.
