Bridgerton Waltzes to the Top

Bitter winter weather affected much of the country during the week of January 26, prompting many people to stay home and consume streaming content. This led to six titles surpassing a billion viewing minutes on Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart.

The return of Netflix’s Bridgerton danced its way to the top of the chart with 3.032 billion viewing minutes for the recorded week. Season 4’s new episodes boosted the show’s total viewing, commanding 74% of the time, with Adult women (18+) representing 72% of the total.

Bridgerton dethroned the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, which held the No. 2 position after a one-week stay at the top, with 1.302 billion minutes viewed.

Taking third place was Prime Video’s The Wrecking Crew, with the action-comedy film having 1.26 billion viewing minutes. HBO Max’s The Pitt landed at No. 4 with 1.209 billion minutes viewed.

Prime Video’s Fallout finished in fifth place with 1.104 billion viewing minutes. Following it was Netflix, Peacock, and Pluto TV’s showing of Rizzoli and Isles, which closed out the billion-viewing minutes club, with 1.016 billion.

According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, of the six titles with a billion viewing minutes, two were exclusively on Netflix, and a third was shared among Netflix, Peacock, and Pluto TV. Prime Video had two titles, while HBO Max had one title in this exclusive category. Meanwhile, Netflix had four titles in the chart, the most of any streamer, with one of those titles shared with other streaming services.

Just missing the billion-minute club, Disney+’s Bluey had 958 million viewing minutes, placing seventh. At No. 8 was Netflix’s His & Hers with 915 million minutes for the week of January 26.

Paramount+ occupied the final two spots. Landman had 864 million viewing minutes, and SpongeBob SquarePants was No. 10 with 852 million minutes viewed.
