The 2026 Sundance Film Festival was all about saying goodbye to an era, and now the indie film institution is looking ahead to a new one. Sundance has announced the dates and select venues for its 2027 edition, which will be the first to take place in its new home of Boulder, Colorado.
The 2027 Sundance Film Festival will run from January 21 – 31, 2027, with films screening at a variety of venues in the college town. Official movie theaters include the Boulder Theater, Boulder High School Auditorium, Casey Middle School Auditorium, Chautauqua Auditorium, Cinemark Century Boulder, eTown Hall, and both the Boedecker Theater and Gordon Gamm Theater at the Dairy Arts Center. The festival will also utilize several venues from the University of Colorado Boulder, including the Macky Auditorium Concert Hall, Muenzinger Auditorium, and Roe Green Theater.
The festival also announced venues for talks and other non-screening programming which include the Boulder Public Library District’s Canyon Theater, the Dairy Arts Center, eTown Hall, and Old Main at UC Boulder.

Boulder offers a renowned creative arts and tech scene, paired with the vibrant CU Boulder students, faculty, and staff. Boulder was selected as the new home of the Sundance Film Festival in March 2025, beating out finalists Salt Lake City and Cincinnati. The festival initially considered Louisville, Atlanta, and Santa Fe as well before narrowing down the field.
