Kate Hudson and Team USA Start California Dreamin’ in NBC’s First LA28 Ad

Team USA Olympic and Paralympic champions, hopefuls, and stars, including Jack Alexy, Perris Benegas, Rai Benjamin, Jordan Chiles, and Kelly Cheng, also feature in the promo.

“As the world gathers in Milan to close one Olympic chapter, LA28 Dreamin’ opens the door to what’s next,” Jenny Storms, chief marketing officer (CMO) of NBCUniversal TV and streaming, said in a statement.

She added: “With Kate Hudson at its centre, this piece captures the spirit and unmistakable energy of Los Angeles – a love letter to the city and a powerful invitation to dream ahead to the Summer Games in 2028.”

Hudson’s pre-Olympic appearance follows an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her turn in Song Sung Blue, which is currently streaming on NBC’s Peacock.

NBCUniversal has the U.S. media rights to the Olympic and Paralympic Games through 2036. It sold out of Winter Olympics ad inventory one month before the Games.

Building on the momentum of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which averaged 30.6 million daily viewers across the broadcaster’s platforms, LA28 is shaping up to be another revenue and ratings powerhouse with the potential to break records for the most-watched sporting events globally.

Corporate sponsors are set to cover $2.5 billion of the privately-funded Games’ estimated $7.1 billion budget.

Those who have signed on to the highest domestic sponsorship tier so far include Intuit, Delta, Honda, Starbucks, and Google. Airbnb, Coca-Cola, P&G, and Samsung are among the global sponsors.

This is the third time Los Angeles will host the Olympic Games, following previous Games in 1932 and 1984.

Long before the flame is lit, LA28 is already facing controversy, with mounting pressure on chair Casey Wasserman to resign after emails between himself and Ghislaine Maxwell surfaced in the Epstein files.
