Beloved actor Eric Dane has passed away at the age of 53 after his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Known for his work in Grey’s Anatomy, Dane starred in shows like Euphoria and even played a character with ALS on the NBC series Brilliant Minds opposite Zachary Quinto. The news was confirmed by Eric Dane’s family in the following official statement:

“With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world. Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”

Dane became a household name as “McSteamy” on Grey’s Anatomy. The character, also known as Dr. Mark Sloan, is still a favorite for fans of the show and a beloved part of the 22 seasons of the show. Later, he went on to play Nate Jacobs’ (Jacob Elordi) father in the HBO series Euphoria and has continued to be a fan favorite every time he appears in something. That was Dane’s charm as an actor, fans always loved to see him take on a new role.
