Taylor Sheridan’s 2-Part Neo-Western Just Staked Its Claim on Paramount+ History

There is no doubt that Taylor Sheridan‘s blockbuster shows have been propping up the Paramount+ streaming service over the last few years, and that his impending departure will be a matter of grave concern for the studio. Sheridan, the creative force behind the sprawling Yellowstone franchise and the hit series Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King, recently had a public falling-out with the top brass at the newly restructured Paramount, and will begin a creative partnership with NBCUniversal in a few years. Before he departs, however, he will have created at least two new shows for Paramount+. Considering his track record, the upcoming shows will do just fine. As with previous titles, Sheridan’s most recent release is set to prove itself soon by hitting a major streaming milestone.

The show was released only in 2024, and it returned for a second season last year. Besides 1883 and Lawman: Bass Reeves, which were designed as limited series to begin with, most of Sheridan’s shows have returned for multiple seasons. Lionness and 1923 have aired two seasons, while Mayor of Kingstown has aired four. Along with Yellowstone, the Jeremy Renner-led crime drama is Sheridan’s longest-running hit, with Tulsa King all set to catch up as well. However, the show we’re talking about — the show on the verge of passing a major milestone on Paramount+ — could overtake them all.

Here’s the Latest Blockbuster on Taylor Sheridan’s Resume

The show in question is the neo-Western Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton in the lead role of a modern-day Daniel Plainview. According to FlixPatrol, the show has spent nearly 200 days on the domestic Paramount+ chart. It also remains a fixture on the streamer’s global leaderboard, along with Yellowstone and Tulsa King. The second season of Landman premiered in November 2025, and the series was renewed for a third season a month later. Landman holds a solid critics’ 80% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, although the audience score is hovering at a relatively low 56%. The website’s consensus for the second season reads, “Further refining its brutish elements into addictive drama, Landman‘s second season makes minor improvements in its treatment of female characters while continuing to benefit from Billy Bob Thornton’s hangdog swagger.” You can watch Landman on Paramount+ domestically.
