Yes Film Trailer

“A ceremony. From destruction to redemption.” Kino Lorber has unveiled the official US trailer for an indie film called Yes, the latest unique creation from the mind of award-winning Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid (following Synonyms, Ahed’s Knee). Yes premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival last year and it also played at tons of other fests including Karlovy Vary, Munich, AFI Fest, and more. A jazz musician known as Y. and his dancer wife Jasmine offer their wild artistic talents to help their nation after the October 7 attacks, with the musician tasked with composing a new national anthem. “One of international cinema’s most fearless and provocative filmmakers, Nadav Lapid has long been an outspoken critic of his birth country’s government policies, channeling a lifetime of fury & frustration into vital films like Synonyms and Ahed’s Knee that brim with righteous anger, spite, and shame.” And this film is one of his most critical works yet. Starring Ariel Bronz, Efrat Dor, Naama Preis, Alexey Serebryakov. This all-out maximalist crazy feature is something to behold – even though it’s a bit too long & all-over-the-place.

In Yes, Nadav Lapid again takes vigorous critical aim at the Israeli government with a new approach: submission. In the days following October 7, Y., a jazz musician, and his wife Yasmin, a dancer, resolve to say yes to everything. Y. & Yasmin sell their bodies & souls to the highest bidder, surrendering themselves & their art to Israel’s social, political and military elite. Soon, Y. is entrusted with a mission of the utmost importance: to compose music for a rousing, ruthless new national anthem. Feverishly whirling between moments of satire, sincerity, and complete submission, Yes is a visceral, blistering indictment of modern Israel, and an essential addition to post-October 7 cinema. Yes, also known as Ken in Hebrew, is written & directed by acclaimed, visionary Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, director of the films Emile’s Girlfriend, Policeman, The Kindergarten Teacher, Love Letter to Cinema, Synonyms, and Ahed’s Knee previously, as well as a few other shorts. Produced by Antoine Lafon, Judith Lou Lévy, Hugo Sélignac. This first premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar. Kino Lorber debuts Lapid’s Yes film in select US theaters starting March 27th, 2026 coming up. For more info, visit their official site. Interested?
