“We have one shot left!” Factory 25 has revealed the official trailer for a hilarious new indie creation called Microbudget, a mockumentary making fun of indie films and the current state of the filmmaking industry. This first premiered in 2024 at a few film festivals and will be out to watch later this month – in NY & LA at first then on VOD. A comedy feature about an aspiring director who recklessly moves himself and his nine-months-pregnant actress wife from Iowa to LA to shoot a low-budget indie movie and sell it to a streamer for a “f***-ton of money.” With a cast of comedy MVPs, Micro Budget follows Terry’s disastrous attempts to make a disaster movie, and his inability to serve a decent lunch. Critics say that it’s “a rambunctious comedy with the same absurdist flow as something like Parks & Rec or The Office.” Featuring Brandon Micheal Hall, Patrick Noth, Emilea Wilson, Nichole Sakura, plus Jordan Rock, Jon Gabrus, Bobby Moynihan, Hal Linden, Neil Casey, Maria Bamford, Mike Mitchell, Kate Flannery, Matt McCoy, Chris Parnell, and Carla Jimenez. This mock doc cleverly “skewers the world of show-business and the depths some maniacal auteurs will sink to in pursuit of their vision.” Yep this looks like good comedy fun with plenty of hilarious roasting.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Morgan Evans’ film Micro Budget, direct from YouTube (via TFS):

When Terry discovers he’s about to be a father, he does what any other sane person would do. He moves himself and his nine-months-pregnant wife from Iowa to Los Angeles to shoot a low-budget indie movie & sell it to a streamer. Documented by his cousin Devin’s behind-the-scenes camera crew, Terry suddenly finds that his beliefs about diversity, the #MeToo movement, and what technically qualifies as a properly financed film production put him at odds with, well, every single person who meets him. Featuring a cast of comedy MVPs, Micro Budget follows Terry’s disastrous attempts to make a disaster movie, and also his inability to serve a decent lunch. Microbudget (aka Micro Budget) is directed by indie filmmaker Morgan Evans, making his feature directorial debut after making many short films & TV work including episodes of “Commanders” & “Gastronauts” most recently. The screenplay is written by Morgan Evans & Patrick Noth. Produced by Puloma Basu, Rob Hatch-Miller, Patrick Noth, Emilea Wilson. This first premiered at the 2024 Sidewalk Film Festival a few year back. Factory 25 is debuting Evans’ Microbudget mock film in select US theaters starting February 27th, 2026 this winter – before it’s out on VOD to watch in March. Any good?
