“All I do is run…” “You could stop.” Focus Features has revealed the first official trailer for a coming-of-age romance film called Girls Like Girls, directed by American musician Hayley Kiyoko, adapting her own song of the same name into this film (which was also turned into a novel). It’s set to hit theaters starting in June right in the middle of this summer. “Love begins when you let it in.” A story about two young lovers exploring their first lesbian encounter. Coley, 17, from rural Oregon, navigates intimacy after her mother’s passing. Meeting Sonya sparks new feelings, but self-doubt and jealousy hinders their connection at first. Sonya, unfamiliar with dating girls, is also uncertain. However, they learn to embrace emotions and explore their own intimacy… It’s a heartfelt coming-of-age story set over the course of one sun-drenched summer. Starring Maya da Costa as Coley & Myra Molloy as Sonya, Levon Hawke, Hunter Dillon, and Zach Braff as Dad. Of course the song is in this trailer – playing up all the emotions and excitement of first love.
