Last fall, CHVRCHES members Martin Doherty and longtime unofficial drummer Jonny Scott announced their futuristic project called the Leaving with the single “Saved.” Today they’ve released another song, a shimmering, club-ready synthpop number called “Pray.”
“‘Pray’ is rooted in a conversation about what is left when someone is gone” Doherty shared about the song. “To be a source of comfort for a person you care about deeply in their time of greatest need, even though you do not feel qualified or capable. It’s about becoming stronger in remembrance of them, and that which was the source of your deepest sadness, becoming your greatest strength.”
