Full US Trailer for Takashi Miike’s ‘Blazing Fists’ Movie Starring Gackt

“It’s the day we’ve worked for.” “I know.” Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for the film Blazing Fists, the last action movie made by the acclaimed, prolific Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike. One of two new films he has coming up, along with Sham as well, which still hasn’t been released in the US yet. The original Japanese title is the longer Blue Fight: The Breaking Down of Young Blue Warriors. Ikuto and Ryoma meet in juvenile detention and become best friends, they pursue their dream of participating in the martial arts event Breaking Down. However, rivalries soon turn their dreams into unexpected conflicts. “A convincing coming-of-age drama with a big heart to balance out the bruises and black eyes, the film’s cast features J-pop superstar Gackt and MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura, who appears as himself.” The full cast for the film features Danhi Kinoshita, Kaname Yoshizawa, Mariko Shinoda, Anna Tsuchiya, Chikashi Kuon, Kyosuke Yabe, Wataru Ichinose, Konatsu Kato, On Nakano, Karuma, Shoki Nakayama, Seya, Riki Sanada, Shuzo Ohira, Miku Tanaka, Nobuaki Kaneko, Susumu Terajima, Katsunori Takahashi, along with Gackt. “No limits. Inspired by the real life MMA fighter and Breaking Down founder Mikuru Asakura, the two boys make a plan to compete in Asakura’s popular tournament. When released, they discover that they’ll have to defeat their past outside the ring, before they can be champions inside of it… Blazing Fists, also called Blue Fight: The Breaking Down of Young Blue Warriors or originally 〜蒼き若者たちのブレイキングダウン〜 in Japanese, is directed by iconic Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike, of many films before including Yakuza Apocalypse, Shield of Straw, Ace Attorney, Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai, 13 Assassins, Terra Formars, Blade of the Immortal, First Love, Lumberjack the Monster, Sham, as well as the Nyaight of the Living Cat series most recently. The screenplay is written by Shin Kibayashi. It’s produced by Misako Saka & Shigeji Maeda; exec produced by Mikuru Asakura. This first premiered at the 2025 Rotterdam Film Festival last year.
