The Cure Win Their First Grammys

After 50 years of being a band, the Cure have won their first Grammys. 2024’s Songs Of A Lost World, their 14th studio LP, earned them a nomination for Best Alternative Music Album and the track “Alone” was up for Best Alternative Music Performance, and the group won both. They couldn’t be in attendance due to the funeral of their recently passed bandmate Perry Bamonte.

Robert Smith and co. were previously nominated for Best Alternative Music Album in 1993 with Wish and in 2001 with Bloodflowers. Other nominees in that category this year were Bon Iver for SABLE, fABLE, Hayley Williams for Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, Tyler, The Creator for Don’t Tap The Glass, and Wet Leg for Moisturizer. The other nominees in the Best Alternative Music Performance category were Bon Iver for “Everything Is Peaceful Love,” Hayley Williams for “Parachute,” Turnstile for “Seein’ Stars,” and Wet Leg for “Mangetout.”

The Cure were teasing a new record back in October.
