Will there be a Fallout season 3?

Amazon’s Fallout has become one of the most successful TV adaptations of a video game over recent years.

The series, produced by Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, follows Vault 33 dweller Lucy MacLean, who ventures out into a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles on a quest to find her kidnapped father.

Alongside Ella Purnell in the lead role, the show’s cast includes Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Walton Goggins, Xelia Mendes-Jones and Frances Turner.

Fallout debuted on Amazon Prime Video in 2024, which was followed by an eight-episode second season in December 2025.

Amazon announced Fallout had been renewed for a third season in May 2025, six months before the second season premiered.

At the time of its announcement, Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM Studios global head of television, said: “Jonathan [Nolan], Lisa [Joy], Geneva [Robertson-Dworet], and Graham [Wagner] have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video.

“Together with our amazing partners at Bethesda Games and Bethesda Softworks, we are delighted to announce a third season of Fallout, well ahead of the much-anticipated debut of season two.”

Do we know a release date for season 3?

Amazon hasn’t confirmed a release date for Fallout season three, but filming is set to begin in May this year. This likely means, unless something goes awry, the third season will debut sometime in 2027.

Speaking to IGN in December 2025, producer Jonathan Nolan expressed a desire to speed up production on the show between seasons.

“With regards to production, we’re hoping to be shooting again next summer,” Nolan said. “We’ll see if that all comes together – best laid plans and all. But I’m excited that though the scope of the show feels undiminished season on season, you know, Geneva and Graham and our incredibly talented cast and crew were able to work quickly enough to get back on the air in a reasonable amount of time.

“I think what’s happened with television in terms of, you know, taking longer and longer from season to season is an unfortunate trend. You don’t want the show to lose any of its scope, [so] we like to be back on the air as soon as we can.”
