Disney’s live-action “Tangled” movie is taking shape with Teagan Croft (“Titans,” “True Spirit”) and Milo Manheim (“Zombies,” “Dancing with the Stars”) landing the coveted lead roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.
The hit 2010 animated movie, “Tangled,” featured Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi in the respective voice parts. The film grossed over $591 million worldwide and spawned a successful Disney Channel series.
“The Greatest Showman” director Michael Gracey will helm the live-action adaptation. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Do Revenge,” “Thor: Love and Thunder,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer”) penned the screenplay. Kristin Burr (“Freakier Friday,” “Cruella”) is producing, and Lucy Kitada will executive produce. Further production details and a release date have not yet been announced.
“Tangled” — which was first reported as being in early development in December 2024 — is the latest of Disney’s animated movies to get the live-action treatment, following “The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Mulan,” “Dumbo,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Snow White” and “Lilo & Stitch.” The live-action “Moana,” starring Dwayne Johnson as the tattooed demigod Maui and newcomer Catherine Laga‘aia as the titular princess, hits theaters on July 10.
THR first reported the casting news.
