“I have killed so many I cannot give you a count… it’s a curse.” A24 has unveiled the first official trailer for their upcoming The Death of Robin Hood movie, another re-imaginging of this classic tale of the legend of the English folk hero. “The legend was a lie.” It was? “He was no hero.” Uh yes he was! But I believe these are just taglines to get your attention. Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, Robin Hood finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. Now in the hands of a mysterious woman on an island, he is offered a chance at salvation. The Death of Robin Hood stars Hugh Jackman as old man Robin, with Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe. An impressive cast! Comer is always great in anything. A new tale from the director of Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One. As much as I don’t like this “he was the bad guy” twist on the Robin Hood story, I do think this actually looks more like Hugh Jackman’s Logan X-Men movie. He thinks he was a bad man but must rescue a young girl and in doing so realize that he really is the hero. At least that’s my first guess from this trailer? Take a look.
