Permanent camp: MS NOW and CNBC’s parent company, Versant, announced that its temporary offices dubbed “Summer Camp” at 229 West 43rd St. will become the media conglomerate’s permanent home. Versant’s CEO Mark Lazarus, in a memo to staffers, said, “After careful consideration and hearing from many of you about how this location makes your commute more manageable, we have decided to remain here.” The Times Square location is rich in journalistic history, having been the headquarters of The New York Times. BuzzFeed News previously occupied the floors MS NOW took over because they met the studio space requirements.
$10 billion lawsuit: President Donald Trump kept true to his promise to sue the BBC, filing a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the news entity in a Florida court. The president is accusing the BBC of combining different sections of a January 6, 2021, speech, making it seem he directed his supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol. The BBC, which acknowledged the error and apologized to the president, said it will fight the lawsuit, with a spokesperson stating, “We will be defending this case.”
Back for a new season: On Thursday, CNN announced that it’s renewing Have I Got News For You for a fourth season. The UK-inspired comedy series has been a bright spot within CNN’s Saturday night lineup, retaining a significant share of Real Time with Bill Maher’s audience. The new season premieres on Saturday, January 24, at 9 p.m. ET.
